Sundays Run May 30th.

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, and is well rested.

I have to say, I think we had an awesome turn out on Sunday. Everyone looked so awesome in their Trail Tale shirts! I really enjoyed the route. We wanted to take you on the single track while it is still cool, because as most of you either saw the snake in person, or saw the photo, you know they do like to come out. So, we will most likely not do single track when it is warm, we will do it early, so we have no issues. :) It was a nice day, and I am glad you were able to see the ocean, and Catalina. I wish the wild flowers were still like they were a few weeks back, but more for you to see next spring I guess.

For the 25k'rs, you guys rock, and you did 6 miles. The 50k'rs, you rock as well, and you did I guess more like 7. We really want to stress that this isn't street running, and the actual "miles" aren't what you need. It is the time on your feet, in the elements, and stressing your bodies. We were out for about an hour and 45 minutes, and I think last week Pete said you were out for almost an hour. So that is a good jump up, because next weekend it will be more like 2 to 2 and a half hours. So plan accordingly. Which brings me to...

Water! You all must know with the exception of Alayne, j/k, that you ALL need to bring more water. One of the great things about training in El Moro is the fact that there are water fountains to fill up. Most places don't have that option at all. So let's please be smart and start hydrating now. Learn what your body needs now. I have seen many people including myself run out of water and believe me, on a hot day, it is no fun! So...WATER! I use electrolytes in one bottle and have the other just plane. That is what works for me.

Nutrition! You will probably need salt, and electrolytes, Gu's, maybe some of you will need bars during the middle of our long runs. During our long runs, we can use my car as an aid station, and I will have fruit and food for us. Kind of like what you would find at a race aid station, so you can play with those foods in your system too. Now is the time to play with your nutrition. We don't want any problems during race day! I am putting together a Hammer order, please call me or email me with what you want if you don't want to pay your own shipping. I will be ordering tomorrow, Tuesday, so I get what I need by my next race. :)

Everyone did really well, and I don't know if you guys know this or not, but this was Martina's very first trail run ever, and I think she did a fantastic job! YAY! I am so proud of everyone but it does bring me great pleasure when its your first. :)

You should all have your training plans, and know your schedule for this week. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email. If you need to run some trails and don't have a partner, call me and we will figure it out.

I am collecting Bulldog Apps. and checks. I will be turning them all in on June 21st!! I have to turn them all in together to get the discount, and to get you guys in on the free drawing. Otherwise you are free to mail them in on your own. Your choice, i would pick choice A. :)

I would like to thank Natasha with Trusting Hands again for sharing her knowledge and expertise on Massage and being so generous in donating the free massage and body scrub! Jenna and Linda were the lucky winners!! Let us know how it works out for you guys!

Thanks,
Corrinne

Sunday May 30th

Pete and I are so excited to share the trails with you on Sunday! A couple of things...

The Bulldog applications... dont send them in, we have to send them in as a group to get our discount, so when you have filled it out, and have your check, give it to me, and I will send them all in at once. Remember the race director is going to pull one from the pile to get a free entry! YAY! So we all have a shot at a free race!

Shirts...I have everyones shirts! YAY! I think Tony and Rocio, you are the only ones I am waiting for to order your shirts! So we should be a good looking group!

Dont forget there is free yoga at Lulu Lemon at 9:30am in Newport after our run for anyone who wants to join us!

I will have goodies for everyone to snack on as well after our run. I would like everyone to focus on nutrition begining now. So eat before the run like you would do before a race, and lets talk about it during our training this Sunday! I will bring some samples, and it might be good for you to bring whatever it is you like to use as well. If you dont know, then lets chat. Pete and I were also talking about doing a group order for product to save on shipping and all, so let me know Sunday who is in for that too.

Great job everyone, I hope your training has been awesome this week!
